Hey gals,
I'm coming off a sprained ankle (like 3 weeks ago) and even though I've been wearing a brace and taking ibuprofen, the fucker is still swollen! It doesn't hurt much, but it bugs me on my crossovers and after an hour or so of skating I'm totally done. Anyone have experience with ankle sprains? Is anything other than time going to make this damn swelling go away?

Mine still hurts two years later! I just ice, and use a brace when it's bad. Sorry!
There's a specific set of guidelines and strategies that work best. Essentially, as with any sprained ankle, you'll want to get the swelling down first, before stretching and restrengthening, to help prevent further injury, or an injury from happening in the future.
Did you happen to go see a doctor when you sprained yours, Barbara? It would be good to know for sure if you broke anything or not. I know I sprained mine awhile back, and it was a really bad sprain, but I was almost back to full strength in a month, walking without pain within a week, just by following the correct initial treatment strategies and rehab techniques.
